Building Features
The five-story building housing the Emmaus Assistance and Training Center features a reinforced concrete structural frame, floors in reinforced concrete slabs, and double-leaf infill walls with an air cavity.
The project included seismic upgrading and thermal insulation of the building, as well as the strengthening of existing foundations through the construction of a new foundation slab.
Intervention with Resisto 5.9
The system adopted for the seismic and energy efficiency upgrade was Resisto 5.9 Tube, a technology consisting of a steel structural frame with integrated thermal insulation.
This solution is dry-applied from the exterior, minimizing disruption for occupants and staff.
The use of Resisto 5.9 will achieve a 45% increase in the seismic risk index (from 0.339 to 0.614), in full compliance with current Italian regulations.
